It was a mix of tailwind and cross-tailwind all the way home – the wind having shifted to more of a WSW, and that was a welcome change. We rode the back way in to drop Mike and Diane off and pulled for Phill for the last two miles. We pulled into the driveway with a shade more than 25 miles, almost on the nose, on the computer but only 24.6 on Strava GPS and a smile stretched across my face.

She’s been handed horrible things in her short life and I want to be there for her, but I really miss my life

I miss making decisions based on whether I want to do something or have time for something and not on her work schedule and picking her up from school. I miss not planning weekly meal calendars. I miss my quiet home.

I want to think my distinction involves the usefulness for the tools in my life: the clothes which keep me warm, the computers which enable me to work and communicate, the audio/video equipment which entertains me

If so, how to explain all the memorabilia, the extensive library, the suits I will never fit into again, or, frankly, the pool table which came with the house and hasn’t heard the crack of a cue stick on the white cue ball in years? Perhaps the memorabilia serves as a tool for memory, and I can rationalize the books because every few months I want to look something up in them, but the suits? The pool table?

What I enjoyed about the Bloganuary experience were the different blogging prompts, which seemed random, at least to me. It challenged me to blog about topics I previously would not have. I even wrote a short (very short) story. It allowed me to reminisce about pleasant experiences. It reminded me of books and authors that have inspired me to read and write. Finally, I enjoyed the comradery with fellow bloggers.

Art has been a big part of my life since I was little, so I have been interested in pursuing design in my future career. With this, I am planning on adding a minor in Graphic Design. Although this Digital Toolbox course is required for my major, I am looking forward to getting a basic knowledge for platforms like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro.

Sometimes, I recognize the need to mentally and physically unwind, which contributes tremendously to my quality of life! Simply put, I feel much better as my sense of well-being increases with such pampering! “Life is beautiful,” even though I am a swinging, retired bachelor. Several groups of people have added me to the list when they have parties and festivities, like at Christmas time; next week, a fellow ex-pat is having her seventieth birthday celebration at this upscale restaurant here in Puerto Viejo that I look forward to attending! That way, I don’t get lonely as I continue living here and learning more and more about myself, my spirit, and my body until I expire.
