I knew school was primarily going to be paid for using loans or any financial aid I might be provided. There was only one school remotely near my hometown that I would go to if I was accepted, otherwise I wanted to go somewhere in the country that would push me outside my comfort zone. I wanted a larger school than my undergraduate institution that still had a relatively small cohort size. In addition, I was seeking a program with enough clinical and practical experience opportunities that would prepare me to enter the field. I was interested in research, however it was not a make or break for me if the school had adequate clinical/observation experiences.

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was young

Keywords: Personal , introduction

After years of working in university newspapers and literary magazines, I ended up learning how to write in an unexpected, cutthroat industry: advertising. It’s exhausting on a day-to-day basis, but when you’re surrounded by the right people, it can be really fun! And it’s always a thrill to see my ideas come to life, even if sometimes it feels like it takes forever.

In this blog I want to talk about what it is like to be a college student while living from home, and how to still feel like you are getting “the college experience”

I firmly believe in trying new things, pushing your limits, and exploring, and all of these things are exactly what I will be doing. Maybe I will learn to paint or face my fear of the rock wall, or even sign up for an intramural sport. No matter what I do I know that there is something to learn within everything, so follow along for my journey!

As a single mother, providing for her family on her own, working 40+ hours a week and taking care of my house that I purchased last year, I wanted to show every other single parent out there that it is possible. I chose this blogging service because it was simple and had tons of tutorials along the way. I can’t wait to post more about myself throughout the semester and get to know my classmates as well!

In the 2nd grade, all everyone cared about was candy, LEGOs and having playdates, not realizing that you needed green pieces of paper or plastic rectangles to get what you wanted

This kind of lifestyle never really died out for me until my first year in college. In my head, I still thought that to be attractive to girls, you had to have a lot of money and spoil them. I thought that in order to be academically successful, you needed the best computer, the most expensive education. My parents hammered over and over again into my brain that in order to become successful, you had to be rich. It was all about the money.

I want to have a career but this job hunting is so hard

They say your 20’s should be the best time of your life but I am literally struggling! Life after college for me feels like a shit show. I feel like everybody is doing better than me in life. I know I should not compare myself with other people but it is so hard when you have social media it is a constant reminder that someone is doing better than you.

It’s kind of intimidating that I have to already start thinking about what I want to do for my career

I have to do it at one point or another. And this is very different from high school because I was never taking classes that I thought would be good for my career, I just took classes that interested me. There is a much bigger selection of classes in college than there is in high school, so I’m hoping that will be very good for me.
