Being able to create an aesthetic for the brand and reflect that in the posts, giveaways and stories was a great learning experience for myself (as I want to work in digital marketing)

Overall I have enjoyed working on this project the past few months. When I started the brand had only just launched its website and had a little following. It is now close to 500 followers and has started to build a loyal customer base with weekly purchases, and an Instagram account that showcases those customers/users.

I made a conscious choice for my current lifestyle in 2013. Although, most of my life I have had a goal of living life abroad even for a short time. I started to put this goal in motion in 2012 by researching ways to live/work abroad. Teaching English seemed to be the best option for me, and in January 2013 I started classes with the University of Miami of Florida to get my Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certification or TEFL. The course was more intense than I expected and along with working full time, it consumed much of my after-work energy. That TEFL certification was the first step in finding a teaching job abroad. Of all the cities, in all the world I have for most of my life dreamed of living in Paris. So, that is where I started.

It honestly makes all the difference to genuinely enjoy your job. I felt very underutilized at my previous job, and always felt so drained after the work day. A lot of the narratives that influence us online or in more conventional media are based on these stories of people who always knew what they wanted to do and proved to everyone that they were exceptional at it. Writers who always wanted to be writers, musicians that sold everything to pursue their dream since they couldn’t do anything else or people that created IT companies that turned into millions when they were teenagers. I mean, the pressure is huge! Unconsciously, the following question starts growing inside our brains: “why don’t I know what I want to be?”

We did also watch “The Man” by Taylor Swift, which was thoroughly entertaining though not at all subtle. And not to sound ancient (hahahaha), but subtlety is the thing really. I might have had a dictionary definition of that back in my young-woman days, but I didn’t really get how to do it.
