I used to joke, that even though I didn’t grow up with brothers or around a lot of boys, I would probably end up being a “boy mom”, and that prospect actually sounded like a lot of fun. I signed up for childcare and nursery and teaching Sunday School whenever I could, honed my auntie skills, and thought I was ready when it was my turn at this parenting thing. And honestly, in a lot of the practical ways, I was prepared. But, there is one thing that I really wasn’t prepared for. The noise.

During the past years my desires in life have changed after a long and intense period of self- observing. Some parts of my life I am grateful and happy about but there is one grand point I realised and that is, that I want to see the world and travel. Finland has many great things itself and reasons to live, but I came to a conclusion that I want to live somewhere else. Partly or full time. I was born in Helsinki, but moved to Kemi which is a small town in Lapland and from there I moved further up north to Rovaniemi, where the Arctic circle and Santa Claus exist. One of the biggest cons I found out is the long and dark winter.

I used to have this fuzzy image of my future. What I really dreamed of was me being happy, having my own family, my own house, and cook whatever I want. And that is actually still my only dream, and I know it doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as I am with someone that really loves me and sees through me. I guess my dream is just to not be alone.
