I told my friend that I intended to buy at least 10 properties in 10 years. In fact, I was only able to buy 2 properties before 2011. But, because I was very clear about the dream, in fact a goal to achieve, I understand that I needed to buy more than a property in each of the coming years to achieve my goal. That’s how it made me being able to have clear action plan on how to achieve the dream. I knew that I needed to survey more properties so that I could start to have properties to buy. I also knew that I needed to save some money to get ready the deposit to pay for the property. I also needed to know how to keep buying properties after the first 2 residential properties because the loan margin is no longer the same.

You are now in college, trying hard to survive. It is honestly pretty funny that you are struggling in college knowing that you have always done well with your studies. I know you don’t really know what you want to be growing up, I too don’t. I have not yet felt strongly for a certain career path but right now, we are trying our best to be an engineer, which is actually pretty bold for a shy kid. All things aside, I am really proud that we have come along this far. We are just a few years away from graduating and actually becoming adults. Until then, I am going to continue to figure out what works the best for us, for our happiness and for our dreams. I love you buddy!

What does sustainability mean to me? With my present and future plans, the definition of sustainability can have both a broad and a minuscule meaning. If I were to give you a broad version of this definition, I would say that sustainability means that I will live out my dream and maintain the life I had built. This could expand from my job and family to my outside life. However, my minuscule definition would include present events.

We don’t have the answers and we never will, but we will be okay. We have to be comfortable living in the questions because there are some questions that will never be answered. I may never reach my dream, and that makes me sad. But does that mean my life doesn’t have meaning or purpose? Of course not. We make meaning and purpose with every interaction we have with others and with our art, our poetry, our music, and our contributions to society…even through our mundane jobs and our relationships. Our purpose is whatever we make it. Our legacy is in every single way we relate to the world…through relationships with people, through conservation, through our perspectives both experienced and shared. I think I am ready to stop trying so hard to make an impact and, rather, start living, traveling, interacting, loving, and just being. I’ll never not be an intellectual; it’s who I am. I will never stop contemplating the big questions or trying to problem-solve the big issues we face, but I don’t need to constantly produce something. It is enough just to exist…to breathe…to be grateful…and to rest.

Make sure to have fun in this life. Even if it’s from the bathroom floor. I was laughing somewhat hysterically and nervously while I talked to her on my cell phone from my kitchen floor. This was going to be huge for me. I’d done two 3-month internships for a stipend when I was 21, but I was now 31. It felt as though I was going backward, but backward back into my dream job. My internships were my favorite jobs of all, until this. I knew I had to do it, I knew I was going to do it
