I don’t mind receiving unsolicited advice because I will hear it and then do what I want

It seems unfair to get annoyed by receiving advice when I dole it out myself. What I learned about advice with my own children is that you can’t force it upon someone; sometimes, advice needs to be heard and ignored, and lessons learned the hard way before it is accepted. Most importantly, I discovered advice is better received when dropped as a food-for-thought nugget for someone to ruminate on until they decide it was their idea.

Over the course of these blog posts, I will be keeping you up to date with my attempts at finding a job. This will include things that I try out, such as volunteer work, as well as just plain and simple rants about how difficult it can be. Along the way there will be some humour (I hope), some harsh truths, total honesty and transparency. I hope that by writing this blog, I can figure it out. In the future I would really like to work for a AAA company making 3D assets for different games. I really love making props so I would like my job to involve that but if I come to enjoy other aspects of 3D art it would be great to work on those. I would love to learn all about the features of Maya and hone my skills by learning new tools and how to use custom scripts for things that aren’t built-in to Maya. I think it would be fun to work on indie projects but most indie games will not be 3D so my skills would not be very useful.
