I want to be helping people in some form and I want to be able to collaborate on things with people. I can’t imagine being holed up in an office all day alone. My dream job allows me to take a nice long lunch break too, so I can go on a walk to a nice restaurant with some coworkers and debrief about my morning.

I used to struggle with discipline, but discipline has become a habit now that I have practiced enough. The more I follow through and show up for myself the morning after, the more confident and eager I am to balance these two worlds. Go to the happy hour, and don’t let it stop you from a productive day. Now that I’ve cultivated a disciplined set of wellness habit, I am working on being okay with taking a day or two off because I know I am discipline enough to jump right back into my groove.

Embrace work-life balance and eschew workaholism. Like I said above, my current role is very supportive in terms of work-life balance. Meanwhile, my new mom efficiency (gotta get as much done in 30min in case the nap is only that long!) means I’m able to get a lot done in a short amount of time daily. But my American workaholic brain is having a hard time letting go of the metric of “hours worked” as equivalent to productivity and success. This year, I want to work on rewiring that part of my brain.

Tomorrow will come when it does. But I want to make today count, too. And I want today to count every day, no matter how tired, shitty, or unmotivated I feel. When I don’t accomplish what I want and when I do, I try to remember to be appreciative of the time I have NOW because it’s the only time I have, right?

I was just getting overwhelmed with my work for uni and wasn’t spending any time doing what I actually want to do.

I have struggled to get into a routine, and this has been an issue especially when it comes to productivity. Morning routines to get yourself into the right mindset during the day is so important… especially if you have ADHD (like me) and your mind kind of is all over the place. Even if you don’t have a set schedule, I find that having a routine really helps get you in the mood to do what you need to do.
