I do wonder, what if I have out grown the person that once inspired me, and I am the one that takes the lead. Would it affect my feelings an and relationship/friendship ? It seems as though I cannot accept anyone that’s ‘weaker’ in certain aspect compared to me. Hmmm … I don’t think I will really know till the time comes.

I don’t mind receiving unsolicited advice because I will hear it and then do what I want

It seems unfair to get annoyed by receiving advice when I dole it out myself. What I learned about advice with my own children is that you can’t force it upon someone; sometimes, advice needs to be heard and ignored, and lessons learned the hard way before it is accepted. Most importantly, I discovered advice is better received when dropped as a food-for-thought nugget for someone to ruminate on until they decide it was their idea.

There are plenty of reasons to garden. I didn’t touch on the importance of knowing where your food comes from or how invaluable it is to have a pantry of food for the winter. I also didn’t touch on why we should focus on saving heirloom seeds that have been passed down through history. Those are all important reasons to garden. But for me, it all comes back to feeling at home.

I got a job! It’s going to be working at a bike rental shop fixing and renting out bikes. Generally, I will be interacting with people and teaching them the joy of mountain biking every day. Sounds like a good vibe, and my fellow co-workers will definitely be spunky and energetic people. Obviously, this isn’t going to pay me as much money as working in big tech did, but that’s okay. If I wanted money, I would be doing that. I remember talking about building a life you don’t want to escape from in Heroin in Vietnam. While I was working for Amazon, I was obsessed with the idea of retirement. Optimizing and being as efficient with my money as possible to not have to work anymore. I’ve realized it’s a bit silly to do something you don’t like for the sole purpose of not having to do that thing anymore, but having more. I know that there is a constancy of work to life, and therefore even if I were to “escape” the corporate life, I would still have to do work every day. All of the money I made while holding a firehose of cash would probably just sit in an investment account for the rest of my life, and I could do what I wanted. I think, right now, I truly want to work at this bike shop.
