I have struggled to get into a routine, and this has been an issue especially when it comes to productivity. Morning routines to get yourself into the right mindset during the day is so important… especially if you have ADHD (like me) and your mind kind of is all over the place. Even if you don’t have a set schedule, I find that having a routine really helps get you in the mood to do what you need to do.

The most difficult thing was communicating with my friends and understanding what they were saying but after staying for a while I understood the American culture and was in love with how they did everything. Years ago, I had a client who came up with a personal mantra that made me smile. He had spent years telling himself he was ugly. This incredibly insecure and self-deprecating young man decided that, when exercising, he would chant “I am hot, I know it. I’m sexy and I show it.” He chanted the rhyme to me in my office. I loved it then and I love it now.

I was lucky enough to go to a high school where you could choose psychology as an option. A lot of the other students chose it because they thought it would be an easy class but oh no not me. While everyone else was talking about whatever teenagers talk about (I swear I was born 80 telling kids to get off my lawn) I was bothering the teacher for more work to do. My apologise to the teacher for being an almighty nag.
