My life has changed a lot since March and there have been very few blog posts. Sometimes I write private entries because I find writing therapeutic, but it is important to keep my relationship private from this place. That’s in contrast to how I felt about loneliness.

So, why start a blog if all I want to do is share photos and thoughts? I could always post on Instagram, right? But I wouldn’t. I’ve always been the “granny” of the group, and I proudly wear that badge of honor! With my own blog, I can express myself freely and fully—Instagram, while fun, limits how much I can say and how many photos I can share, and it often feels too confined. Social media, in general, can feel a bit stuffy to me (as an introvert). Everyone’s so interconnected, which is, in a way, the essence of it, but I’m not fond of the feeling of eyes constantly watching or the overwhelming amount of content that pulls me into endless doomscrolling. Personally, staying online all the time doesn’t feel healthy. I’ve grown horrified by it, and so I go on social detox every now and then when I feel like I’m losing touch with what truly matters.

What I’ve noticed about myself as a writer is that I tend to go off how I’m sounding like in my head. Don’t get me wrong I feel like that isn’t such a bad thing but sometimes or actually all the time I feel that when I’m writing I’m saying it loud enough in my head but when it comes to reading it [out loud] later, I always find a mistake. Goes to show how much [I] proofread which has always been a problem with me.

Ultimately, my goal with writing is to write about things that are important to me, what I believe in, and can touch other people as well… along with helping people escape their everyday lives and dive into someone else’s, even if it’s not real.

I find astrology interesting, and sometimes extremely accurate. I think motivations and actions are fickle depending on how a person was raised or what they are sensitive to. I think a lot about a lot of random topics that I hope you can join me on. I’m not sure how often I will update but I want to do enough that by my ‘Dear [insert year]’ post someone will understand a little more about me.

Waking up at 4.30 am – a couple of hours before my alarm was due to go off this morning – I was wide awake and my mind was racing, full of clear, sharp images and a story to tell. I would usually just head straight back to bed, but not today. I did try but the dream I’d had was pushing to be written. I’m trying to be more creative, allowing my imagination to surface more, so when I woke up this morning with the images from my dream so clear in my mind, I just knew I had to start writing immediately.

I sit and I start writing. I have no idea where the essay is going to go, or if it is going to go anywhere at all. The act of writing raises questions, ideas and related concepts in my head, and the essay takes itself there.
