I knew school was primarily going to be paid for using loans or any financial aid I might be provided. There was only one school remotely near my hometown that I would go to if I was accepted, otherwise I wanted to go somewhere in the country that would push me outside my comfort zone. I wanted a larger school than my undergraduate institution that still had a relatively small cohort size. In addition, I was seeking a program with enough clinical and practical experience opportunities that would prepare me to enter the field. I was interested in research, however it was not a make or break for me if the school had adequate clinical/observation experiences.

When I want something bad enough, I find a way to make it work

Keywords: anxiety , depression , hardtruths , imworthit , lifeishard , sacrifice , smallthings , worthit

I CHOOSE what I want, and I make the sacrifice to make it work. That’s just who I am. One of my mantras in life is a little discomfort in the short run is worth it in the long run. Enjoy the small things in life.

The more I understand myself, my innate personality (and the traits and tendencies that go along with it), the more open and accepting I am about the people around me

I consider myself a very self-aware person, and I constantly strive to be better. I also find that with this knowledge, I’m more cognizant of my comfort zone and can more easily recognize when I should step outside of it. It helps me to understand other people’s motivations and points of view, to the point where, even if someone is being really nasty to me, or is frustratingly rigid, for example, I can’t help but empathize with where they’re coming from.

I am committed to my own professional development because I want to be the best that I can be in my job, but also as a person

Keywords: professional development

I will look for opportunities to do something I’ve never done before to challenge myself outside of my comfort zone. It is best to learn outside of my comfort zone, because I do things that I don’t usually do and therefore I will learn the best in such situation.

The more comfortable that [thing] becomes, the harder it is to break out of it

The longer I spend writing content, the harder it is to imagine what life would be like without it, even though I’m finding I spend more and more of my day trying to picture such a life.

I want to become more comfortable and excited doing things on my own

I didn’t have any study tours this Wednesday, so I decided to have a solo exploration day. In the morning, I walked to Church of our Savior, where I got to climb the spire and see a beautiful view of the surrounding area. It was a little scary getting up there, as Fall comes with a lot of wind in Copenhagen, but the view was absolutely worth it. Afterward, I headed to a part of Copenhagen that I haven’t been to and walked around for a bit.
