The party was a success. Loved how everyone showed up and we spent a really good time. This will be of a core memory.

I began seeing a beautiful pattern of how every life experience and state of being does what it needs to do in every moment. My states of mind where I felt trapped and insecure – that I genuinely believed would never change – stayed for as long as they needed to and eventually left. If not for those stressful times, I would not be physically, emotionally, or mentally well-equipped the way I am now. I recognize this clearly because every day now, I experience the freedom and peace that I once longed for. People entered and left my life in perfect timing to teach me what I needed to learn about myself. Stress stayed for as long as required for me to know how not to identify myself with my emotions. Unfavorable circumstances affected me for as long as they were supposed to.

It doesn’t matter what it is, go DO things. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed–so go out and live it. You don’t have to set aside three months to have a great time. Find fun things to do in your local area–go to the Farmer’s Market on a Saturday morning and pick up some fresh produce, go on a hike with a friend, go to a new bookstore and browse, or go on a sunset sail in the city you’re visiting (we did this and it was awesome!) Enjoy God’s creation in any way you can. It doesn’t have to be fancy or even cost you anything other than the gas to get there.

During the back labor I started crying out to God and I told Him, “I am giving this everything I have. You have to help me. I can only do this till noon, Lord, so she’s GOT to come by then.” As I was silently pleading with the Lord, Jeff was pressing a hot compress and his fists into my back for counterpressure. He also started speaking in tongues over me.

I am a Med student. I am in the process of saving lives. It has always been my dream, my only dream, to become a medical doctor ever since I was 5.

In the early years of my 20s, I started to learn that money doesn’t necessarily make us happy. I know, I know there’s a lot of talk about this. I mean, at the end of the day, we all need money to do our thing, right? But, what I’m trying to say here is that, I’ve realized that during the hours I’ve spent stressing about how I’m not achieving those life goals that society tells us we should’ve reached by now, I’ve missed out on living. I could’ve made so many more memories and probably been a lot happier if I chased joy instead, if I choose my version of success to be how many times I’ve laughed this week, if I counted experience in the same way I do money, or if I climbed a mountain with the same eagerness as the career ladder. There’s a whole world to discover outside of those boundaries we’ve set for ourselves!

When I saw the book The Art of Making Memories in Copenhagen’s airport, at the end of my trip to Iceland, I instantly knew that I wanted to buy and read it. Written by Meik Wiking, the author of The Little book of Hygge, the book presents some findings by the Happiness Research Institute, insights on how to make memories, and the general science behind how and why we remember some specific things and moments.

Every time I go to a new place in Puerto Rico, I fall a little bit more in love. This tiny island has it all – a lush rainforest, the most beautiful beaches, unique wildlife, vibrant cities. There’s still so much I want to see before I leave. I’m slowly learning to take life day by day – I’m on island time now, where everything is mañana, as I’ve heard a lot since I’ve been here. So I’m hoping the next trip I take is just as spontaneous and wonderful as this one was. And even when I leave Puerto Rico, I think I’ll be spending less time planning and more time living.

I’ve learned that I can’t control that and it’s nothing for me to stress out about now. What’s most important is living in the moment and being forever grateful for what you have and for what you’ve experienced. I’ve found that stressing about the future has only made me feel worse because it is so unknown and irrelevant right now and once I’ve started to accept that, it has been a much more positive experience.

I’ll be trying out a bunch of activities that I find interesting alone. Hopefully through this experience that I’m sharing with you, I will learn more about myself. My blog will be focusing on lifestyle, fashion, self love, and everything about me. Rather than experiencing this alone I think it is quite nice to share it with other people through blogging. I think that there are people out there who will relate to me.
