I find each one [of my photos] breathtaking because when you look at the beauty of nature you know God is real. Here is the evidence.

I have had nothing to write about literally since May of 2010. That’s bizarre. That blog can probably be reworked somewhat, but I’d rather it be read and then used as my progress on this journey. That’s because I hope that over the last four-years, I’ve learned much and become a better person on the whole. That probably sounds slightly trite–especially given that it’s three-days before Christmas and that 2012 is rolling up quickly. As an aside, I was actually in Chichen Itza last November wherein I learned the problematic issues with Mayan math based in our time line in addition to what they believe about endings, so don’t sweat it. I heard it from a young Mayan Scholar. We are cool to keep on truckin’.

My mom text me this morning to make sure I was ok. I said I was which was a total lie because I’m not. Please hold on a minute with me while I text her back and apologize for lying to her. I want you to know it’s ok to not be ok. I’m typing this while my one year old is screaming in her bed and I seriously have no clue what’s wrong. I’ve cuddled and fed her I can’t tell you how many times today. I gave her some ibuprofen thinking maybe it’s her teeth because she is typically the happiest baby I’ve ever seen (and I have four remember). I finally gave up and put her to bed in hopes a nap will heal the crabby. And, now she’s asleep. Bingo!

I wouldn’t be who I am today if I hadn’t traveled and seen the incredible things that I’ve seen! So what if I’m carrying a bit more student loan debt because of study abroad? Who cares that I’m not living with my boyfriend at the moment? I knew that travel would alter my life’s course, and that’s fine. Why do I care what others around me (family, “friends”…) think?!?!

God made us though, and we’re definitely not ‘shells’ that are completely empty of all desire and intention. I believe that while creating us, he also wrote plans, desires, wonder, and love into our DNA. People know what they want to do, deep down, even if they are unable to admit it to themselves. For me, I want to write and create. I love making art. I love connecting with and to people and ideas. I love change and different ideas and growth.

I asked God that before I die can I please experience true love. Two years of birthday wishes later I met someone. That day I left my house headed to Lowes and at the last second decided to go in the opposite direction to Home Depot. You can’t tell me that God didn’t send me there. When he asked for my number I almost did not give it to him out of fear. I had not given my number out in years. I’m glad I did he’s different than any other guy I’ve ever dated. He shows up for me in ways that I dreamed of. It’s been over a year now and things are going well. I get to show up as my authentic self and don’t have to try hard to please him. I’ll admit that even though I’m happy here I’ve had times where my self destructing thoughts tried to creep in. Block, block, block, I’m staying hopeful this time around.

I said YES, because training and eating clean made me who I am, BUT from my 26 years old I wanted MORE than being a well trained machine, a sculpted body. I wanted to travel, meet people, have a broader view of options for my future and career. Because I know in the future I might regret it. And those things dont come knocking at your door, not even at the gym’s one lol. So now I’m working on keeping my “dark side” under control, not feeling miserable if I’m not doing 6 cardio a week but 4-5, or if I’m traveling and training won’t be perfect, or if for a night or two I won’t be sleeping, because I will gain something else: memories, life experiences, interesting conversations and meetings, friendship. And I will still be my personal best, just more “complete”.

Of course, I’ll always be alone. I’ll always live alone. I’ll never marry. I’ve never have kids. I’ll never have a friend. I’ll hardly ever see my family. I’m fine with that. I knew that would be my future ten years ago. It’s not sad if it’s all you’ve ever known. You find happiness elsewhere in life. You make your own joy. For me, the only thing of any worth in that burning building would be myself. My life. The joy I find within it is worth fighting for because in such a dark world, those moments of joy are priceless.

I get an earful of why my future this way is insecure, not financially stable, or just not fitting their expectation of me. Then, they belly laugh and move on in their conversation. They always mean well, but never know any better. The first time I heard it, I was so upset. I’m more used to it now, but I know a change will follow soon. Same old, same old. In the end, however, it’s your life to live, your dreams to follow, your vision to force to life, and no one should be able to tell you otherwise. After all, if you push hard enough, it will be you who has the last laugh.
