And looking at vintage black and white images, with all the grain and imperfections really speaks to me in a way I can’t quite articulate. The name of the page is “PS: I miss you x” if you wonder, is the signing at the end of numerous unsent and lost postcards, letters, messages from me to people I love, with “x” is symbol of a kiss. Maybe one day, you will see a girl with long messy hair and a pair of glass sitting in a park, riverside, central square, a church somewhere writing a postcard, come say hi because it’s probably me travelling solo somewhere in this big big world and missing people in my life.

I’m here to tell you, there are a lot of reasons. One of the simplest reasons is that I adore adventure. I’ve always enjoyed traveling. “Not all those who wander are lost.” I realized a few years ago that I’ve lived on 3 different continents and that I had traveled to 4 at the time. Now, it’s 5. When I had that realization, I gave myself a goal to visit every continent before I’m 30, because reaching every country even within a lifetime (like I would like to do) seems a little unattainable when you don’t have a remote job or a job related to traveling. I started looking into traveling to Antarctica and learned two things: 1) it’s super expensive (it’s a minimum of $10,000 to get out there) and 2) it’s really bad for the environment. The amount of resources wasted for 3 days on the southernmost continent is just not justifiable for personal pleasure. Then I learned about the opportunity to work out there. I have been applying over the past couple of years and finally got the offer. Right now feels like the perfect time to go, since my current stage of life makes it a little easier to pursue an extended trip away from “normal” life. I know things like having a house, being an aunt/mom, owning pets, etc would make a job like this hard to leave for, so I’m really glad I was able to get this role when I did.

I really enjoyed university, so I don’t regret it. I don’t see it as a guarantee for getting a job anymore, I see it as a place for governments to put their capital. Loaned to the youth lest it loses its value sitting around untouched, due to the inflation which they have created. I see it as a way to make my parents happy. As a way to accumulate and question knowledge. A place to have debates. Somewhere to directly or indirectly gain knowledge about how the world works.

During the past years my desires in life have changed after a long and intense period of self- observing. Some parts of my life I am grateful and happy about but there is one grand point I realised and that is, that I want to see the world and travel. Finland has many great things itself and reasons to live, but I came to a conclusion that I want to live somewhere else. Partly or full time. I was born in Helsinki, but moved to Kemi which is a small town in Lapland and from there I moved further up north to Rovaniemi, where the Arctic circle and Santa Claus exist. One of the biggest cons I found out is the long and dark winter.

Thankyou sm to my parents for raising me verywell so I’m enough to understand how cruel world what is really like. Life is pain and i already got to it. Every mistake being a child /teenager , influenced by society , growing up was a big part to improve and way to be curious and making you to set up your goals.

So what would happen if we all simply respect everyone and everything? For many of us this requires some work over time to undo, mental programming and even trauma in many cases. It requires conscious effort and in my opinion it is worth doing, because the world view from this perspective is worthwhile and opens the doors to other issues that are otherwise inaccessible. Also when working with respect we are faced with other concurrent issues such as acknowledging our limits, realizing our potentials, and that “small” issue of boundaries. Yes I respect you, AND I will not allow you to abuse me.
